In the medical arena, many different databases are used to store information about a patient. In the past, because of the distributed nature of these medical databases, to obtain a medical history of a patient may require physically going to many different databases to acquire the patient's information. The Oncology Imaging TimeLine (OITL) provides a way of consolidating the information from these distributed databases into a single view. From OITL we can access a various information on a patient's medical history from images to reports to clinical measurements taken on the patient. All of this information is displayed in a timeline format that allows the OITL user to browse the progress of the patient's health. The figure below presents the OITL user interface, which not only allows the user to browse the patient information, but also permits the user to annotate and calculate measurements on any images (MRI's, CT scans, X-rays, etc...) taken of the patient. The functionality of the OITL application is based on the technologies described in the KMeD system.

This figure displays the OITL Document Window, which allows the user to access and compare any of the patient's medical reports.

By dragging the mouse pointer over any of the points on OITL's graphical timeline, the user may obtain information regarding clinical measurements made on the date associated with the chosen point.
